Eduardo Garza Socarrats 2021Region: Priorat], Spain, Grape variety: Carignan (85%) and Garnacha (15%). Alcohol by volume: . The grapes for Socarrats come from vineyards northwest of Gratallops, where over 40-year-old Carignan vines grow alongside a small number of younger Grenache plants. Harvest took place by hand on September 16, 2020, with grapes carefully collected and refrigerated overnight. After complete destemming, the must underwent a 23-day cold maceration before pressing. The wine was then aged for 11 months in concrete tanks prior to bottling. . Yields from these vineyards are extremely low, resulting in only 1,200 bottles of this wine. . In the glass, Socarrats shows a deep, dark color. The nose opens with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, herbs, and a distinct minerality. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet elegant, with no oak influence, allowing the fruit to dominate. Vibrant acidity and fine structure carry through to a long, persistent finish, making this wine a pure and expressive reflection of its origin
