Highly aromatic on the nose, Irsai Olivér evokes a blooming summer meadow, with expressive notes of lily of the valley, elderflower and acacia blossom. Irsai Olivér is a Hungarian grape variety created in 1930 by grape breeder Pál Kocsis by crossing Pozsonyi Fehér with Csabagyöngye (Pearl of Csaba). Originally developed as a table grape, it became increasingly valued for winemaking thanks to its exceptionally expressive fragrance and early ripening. Today, it is one of Hungary’s best-known aromatic white varieties. Its naturally intense floral, grapey and Muscat-like character is at its best when vinified in a fresh, youthful style. With its vibrant aromatics, light body and moderate 11.5% alcohol, this is an excellent introduction to the distinctive world of Hungarian grape varieties.
