Grape variety: Furmint
The Lenkey Furmint Estate Selection 2019 is comprised of the wines of various vineyards, including Úrágya, Holdvölgy, Középhegy, and Kishegy. The most mineral-rich is Úrágya, with its abundance of hard rhyolite stones and iron oxide, giving the rocks a striking red appearance. Situated on the south and west slopes, Holdvölgy boasts highly mineral soil containing tuff, rhyolite, and red clay. Középhegy's south-facing slopes have zeolite-rich soil, while Kishegy's soil is a mix of red clay and detritus. The wine undergoes a natural fermentation process with native yeasts, and is then aged for 1.5 years in a combination of steel containers, used oak barrels, and new oak barrels. After spending an additional 2 years in the bottle, the wine finally hits the market in June, 2023.
