Presas Ocampo Origen 2017 is an elegant, mineral-driven red wine from D.O. Tacoronte-Acentejo in Tenerife, Canary Islands, produced mainly from Listán Negro grown in the lower-lying vineyards of Tacoronte and El Sauzal. A distinctive expression of Tenerife’s volcanic terroir and one of the Canary Islands’ emblematic indigenous red grapes. On the palate, it is elegant and smooth, with good structure, depth and a full, persistent finish. Listán Negro is one of the signature red grape varieties of the Canary Islands, particularly important on Tenerife. The island’s volcanic soils and Atlantic influence give the variety a distinctive identity, often characterised by fresh fruit, spice and mineral nuances. For Origen, grapes from low-lying plots in Tacoronte and El Sauzal are manually harvested and carefully selected. The wine spends 4 months in used French oak barrels and is clarified without additives, resulting in a special edition made with minimal intervention, care and respect for its origin.
