Valdecuevas barrel fermented verdejo 2019
100% Verdejo, Fermented in barrels.
The wine is made entirely of Verdejo grapes from the La Pardina estate, fermented in French oak barrels of 500 liters, it was aged on lees for 7 months, over which there was a weekly “batonage”, resulting in an elegant and robust wine, where the varietal provides freshness and the oak a stunning complexity.
The barrel fermented Verdejo is a limited production, depending on the year only 3,000-5,000 bottles are made.
The wine in the glass has brilliant and clear straw yellow colour with golden highlights.
If I close my eyes and sniff into the glass I can smell the summer, perfume of the orange grove. Spicy tones, vanilla, lightly toasted, conjoined with the fruityness and the anisseed characteristic of Verdejo.
It has a great mouthfeel coupled with a touch of acidity that adds freshness to the heavy perfumes.
