We continue our adventure of tasting wine online. This time we are heading towards Tokaj wine region which is located in northeastern Hungary and is one of the seven larger wine regions of the country and definitely the most famous of all. Tokaj has been declared a World Heritage Site in 2002, however, its fame long predated this distinction because it is the origin of Tokaji aszú wine, the world’s oldest botrytized wine and one of the oldest appellations of the world.
We will get an insight into the secrets of Tokaj with the guidance of Sarolta Bárdos, the owner and wine maker of the Tokaj Nobilis Winery.
She has been cultivating vine since 2000 on 7 hectares in Bodrogkeresztúr, Tokaj region. She is one of the most conscious wine maker of the region. Her strategy to focus on the terroir and show that in her unmistakable wines brought her several acknowledgments: the Winemaker of the Year in 2012, Best Winemaker of the region in 2020, Expovina Gold Medal in 2018 and 2019 and the list can be continued.
